The Storm Poker Run event was scheduled for September 30th to October 4th, 2020.
In a Live FB video August 11, 2020 at 8 PM PST. The Storm Team announced the cancelation of the event.
There were too many No's coming from Government Agencies. The Storm Team had no Support from the City of Lake Havasu as we were told NO EVENTS could be held on City Property.
The London Bridge Resort also informed the team there was no gatherings larger than 50 ppl allowed on property.
So yes, we could have moved the event but, we felt that we would be providing a 'Half' event not our full potential and what you are used to. In looking at other venues and locations.
We were also told that the STATE of AZ would not issue us a liquor license. So, then the event became a total bust.
Not to mention all the grey areas for gathering provided from Governor Ducey’s (AZ) office. Along with the CDC guidelines, which our event could not accommodate.
The Storm Team prides themselves in putting on the BEST EVENT ON THE WEST COAST. 'We wanted to provide nothing short of that.' Christina Nichols
We are sad that it has come to this, but unfortunately it is totally out of our control we look forward to providing you with the event you have come to love in the Spring of 2021!
Stay safe and Healthy-
Christina, Jimmy Nichols and the Entire Storm Team

This year, the event again took place north of Lake Havasu City limits. It started at Anderson Toyota, up desert trails up to Topock 66 and back to Anderson Toyota. During the event, lunch was served, raffle prizes handed out along with a wining poker hand prize.

The DHPFFA noticed a large number of off-road enthusiasts flocking to the area within the boundaries of the Desert Hills Fire District (DHFD). With off-road technology advancing as fast as any other industry, side by side manufacturers are developing vehicles that stretch beyond the limits of the Fire Districts rescue vehicle. Off road enthusiasts purchase these vehicles and travel great distances in a matter of minutes and travel roads that non-typical vehicles can travel that creates major concern for the first responders.
DHFD and DHPFFA members noticed major limitations of its equipment during an off road accident and they are being proactive to reduce those limitations to better protect the lives of enthusiasts in Lake Havasu City.
“Thanks to the participation from last year’s event, we were able to purchase a Polaris Ranger 6 seater, a rescue skid, a trailer and some equipment for off road rescue,” according to the website.

The DHPFFA is currently organizing its second event to help raise more funds for the Fire District to continue its path to bring even better service to our off road response.

Capital raised by this event will go toward Technical Rescue Equipment, fund annual TRT training and make charitable donations to First Responder charities in need. The money raised annually will also go toward maintaining all equipment to the highest standard.
